News Flash
Posted: 19 November 2009 – 11:54 pmOkay… So I admit that I apparently suck. I have gotten more then a little bit busy the last week or two and did not manage to keep up with the posting here, even though it is NaBloPoMo. Well, I am still going strong over on mephistos and it is a good read. However, even given my less that stellar performance of keeping things posted daily here on Traveller’s Haven Farms, I have more then enough to post about. I am going to be doing something just a little different here though. I have not completely worked out the target as of yet, but I am think along the lines of a post a week or two posts a week, maybe even three a week. I think that is much more likely to be sustained, even doing it out through a year, then posting once a day for a month. As soon as I get it completely figured out, you dear readers, will be the second group of people to know. For now, note that I will have a good posting here in just a short bit.
In conjunction with that, there are a few things that I am hoping to get updated here on the site this weekend coming up. As I get those done, I think I will come back here and check them off as a list type of thing and add to this post. By the way, if you have suggestions shot, I am always open on that kind of thing. Lastly, I am also looking for other sites of a sustainable green farm type to link to from here, especially blogs, but not exclusively.
Monsanto & Round Up
Posted: 3 November 2009 – 11:48 pm
Monsanto is pretty much right on the bottom of muck pile as a way of really expressing just how I feel about them. I have never been a very big fan of them anyway and you may recall my questioning of their Round Up product back some number of months ago in a blog. Over the summer I learned of something else and it explained a couple of things to me and made me pretty much as ticked off as I can be.
Relaunch…

So it is November… Crisp cooler weather, frosts in the morning, great time for even more coffee consumption and taking it just a little bit easy. Enjoying life a bit more fully. It is also time the NaBloPoMo occurs. By combining the two thoughts above I have decided it is the perfect time to relaunch this blog and get it to being an active site again.
Farmers Market
Posted: 25 May 2009 – 1:05 pm
Spent some part of this weekend with a good friend of mine over in Garrard County. We did our usual of talking a lot over some tea as well as talking some more while one or the other of us helped out. It was my turn this time, as he was planting some stuff in the garden. He and his family have finally gotten it going toward selling for a couple of different farmers markets around the area. Some of things in regards they had to go through for that are kind of interesting though.
Farm Subsidy Cuts
Posted: 28 April 2009 – 9:09 pm
Proposed by President Obama in the not so far off past, cuts to farm subsidy programs, particular the Direct Payment program that seems to largely ignore market conditions would have cut payouts as proposed by the White-house by 9.7 billion dollars over the next ten years. Anyone that has read my stuff over on mephistos.com knows that despite having been a farmer and really being in tune with the rural lifestyle, I am very against the notion of farm subsidies of any kind and strongly felt that this cut effecting only farms with revenues over $500,000 seemed like a step in the right direction.
